Today is a day of firsts.. the first Sunday of the New Year… the first day of the first week of 2016. The excitement of the New Year is still lingering in the air like falling confetti from the New Year’s Eve celebration in New York’s Times Square. Do you feel it? I’m so excited! I hope that you too are anticipating great things to occur in your life this year. If you’re a little hesitant about claiming God’s promises because of things that may or may not have occurred in 2015, I can relate. For me, 2015 was comprised of an equal amount of highs and lows. I’ve decided to call it my year of the Yin and the Yang. I had the opportunity to travel to Uganda on my first missions trip. When I returned, I was faced with a frivolous lawsuit in small claims court. Thankfully, the Lord was on my side and I prevailed. Now, I know what it means to proclaim, “the Lord will be your lawyer in a court room.” The Word of God, 2 Chronicles 20:15, came to life for me.
“And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”
Regardless of the disappointments or setbacks you may have faced, rest assured that God is not finished with you. If you are a child of God, you can be certain that more goodness is in store for you. The one thing you will have to do however is to release the past so that you are free to embrace the prize that awaits you. I’m on this journey too. Check in with me. I’d love to know how you’re doing.
Meditate on this: “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:13-14
