Congratulations! You made it through the first work week of 2017. If you’re like most, you’re still basking in the afterglow that accompanies the start of a new year. After all, it’s still too early yet for the spirit of frustration and defeat to rear its ugly head – right? You’re full of excitement and expectation that THIS will be the year that all of your hopes and dreams come true.
I’ll admit it. I was happy to wave “bye-bye” to 2016. It was a tough year for me. Some days I felt like I was maneuvering a slow moving mud slide. I often wondered, when will I reach the bottom of this thing? (I’m still waiting for the post office to locate my box of winter coats that were shipped to Michigan over a month ago!) Thankfully, I believe in miracles. Regardless of the challenges, I must proclaim that God has been faithful to me. His Word never fails. This is the reason for my hope. This is the reason for my joy.
I hope that 2016 was a great year for you. It’s my prayer that 2017 will be even better. If you’re a child of God and you’re standing on His promises, just as I am, you can expect God to move in a mighty way in your life. How can I be so sure? Because God is bound to His Word. Whatever He has said, He will perform. That is our blessed assurance – no matter what it looks like in the natural. Whatever God has promised, He will do. Our job is to align our words with His.
You can expect the enemy to start sending negative thoughts your way, very soon. By the time we reach March, it seems many people have given up on their goals and slipped back into their old habits and routines. They stop going to the gym, eating healthy, getting up earlier to spend time in prayer, and so on. Don’t join this club! Whatever you’re believing God to do in your life this year, pray and find a scripture to stand on. When the enemy throws you a curve ball, (and he will) don’t quit. Hold on even tighter to God’s Word. Hold on like your life depends on it. Rehearse His Word in your heart. Repeat aloud the scriptures you’re standing on several times a day. (Remember, faith comes by hearing the Word). Whatever you do, don’t stop believing. We have the blessed assurance that God will perform His Word.
Meditate on this: “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” _ Matthew 24:35
